“I’ve been volunteering with Gardenscape for two years now. It is an absolute pleasure watching the young people blossom and see their confidence grow in this group. I’ve watched them develop both gardening skills as well as a real interest in growing their own produce. Their enthusiasm is infectious.”

Although I work full-time, I have been volunteering for ASCape since 2022 after seeing the positive effects of the group activities on my own two daughters. ASCape has been one of the most beneficial things for us as a family by far and has been a consistent source of support through the ups and downs!

After helping to secure funding from Children in Need, I am now involved in running activities for ASCape in the Weymouth and Portland area. I am passionate about providing calm, nurturing and fun activities for our children and young people to help aid socialisation in a safe space and help them thrive.

So far, we have undertaken an after-hours tour of Sealife -“Sharks After Dark”, nature activities with the RSPB at Radipole Reserve and even zapped zombies in virtual reality gaming! If you have an idea for an activity in the area or are a business that would like to help us, please get in touch.

Volunteering for Ascape is one of the highlights of my month. Being able to go along and support young people at the youth club meetings means so much to me! Having struggled with a lot of similar situations in my youth like the young people we support means I can give honest advice and I know I’m doing the best I can to help. The monthly youth group is a great place to meet and chat with no pressure to impress.

I have just started volunteering with ASCape, mainly at the youth group.

I work in schools with children who are struggling with mainstream education. Volunteering gives me the chance to learn from the young people who use ASCape and get to see them enjoying an environment where they feel safe and welcome.
