Family Activity Afternoon Rockpooling and Beach Craft at Charmouth Beach

Saturday 19th October 2024

We arrived at Charmouth beach to be greeted by the Thriving Wild team. They had set up a few different activities on the beach, including painting a flag (mixing our own paint using chalk and other natural materials) and lighting a small fire using flint. Willliam had had a hard week at school and we weren’t sure if he would feel up to joining in, but the team were amazing at adapting to each child’s needs and he settled into the session as a result of their patience and kindness. He loved lighting the fire and making a ‘rock pool’ by digging a hole in the sand and filling a bucket with water, whilst Sophia really enjoyed the painting. It was a beautiful location and although the beach was busy there was plenty of space. We then took a snack break and played some scavenger hunt games, which everyone enjoyed. Then it was time to go rockpooling! We made our way closer to the shore and, armed with nets and guided by the team, we discovered crabs of all shapes and sizes and put them into our buckets to observe before returning them to the sea.

Our whole family really enjoyed this session and we’ll definitely return here!
