We recently joined ASCape and both Lenny and I have been made to feel really welcome.
So far we’ve been to two events, Charmouth and Radipole and both have been brilliant. All the ASCape organisers are friendly, welcoming and understanding. It’s such a joy to be around people who understand what your child might be coping with.
Radipole was a great afternoon with a lovely balance of a bird watching walk with professional wildlife experts and pond dipping. It was a brilliant afternoon with a fun and relaxed atmosphere.
Both events had a great choice of activities and the children are free to take part in as much as they feel comfortable and able to. There is no pressure to do activities if they aren’t able to do something. It feels really inclusive for all autistic children, wherever they are on the spectrum. If they can’t do everything they are made to feel welcome to just be there as part of the day. That means a lot.
I can see how much Lenny is enjoying it all and making new friends. I enjoyed meeting other parents too, and so many lovely Ascaper kids.
I’m really grateful to have found ASCape, it will make a big difference for us to be part of such a lovely autistic community.
Both Lenny and I are looking forward to lots more activities and days out with the group.
