An afternoon of fun nature-based activities for all the family in a beautiful field near Askerswell, hosted by Clare and Siobhan of Thriving Wild Forest School.

Please leave plenty of time to find it so we can start at 2pm.

Please dress appropriately for the weather with wellies, waterproofs and plenty of layers!

We will start by meeting the team around the fire circle area and splitting into 2 groups. Each group will have a go at one of the two planned activities, then have snack time back at the fire circle area then complete the other activity.

Activity 1: Hapa zome and tie dye

Come and have a go at ‘hapa zome’ – this is the fun technique of bashing leaves and flowers into fabric to make natural prints of your own design. Create a flag, some bunting or a bandana, or simply something beautiful. Have a go at natural tie dye printing too.

Activity 2: Choice of fun outdoor activities

Find your way to some simple fun activities scattered around the site. What does the site look like from the top? You can choose to do one or all of the following:

– make bubbles at the top of the hill and send out some wishes with your bubbles!

– try your hand at den making using sticks, rope and a tarp in the open field!

– make some seed bombs using clay, compost, sand and wild seeds. Take them home to scatter on some bare earth this autumn. Hopefully you will spot some wildflowers growing next spring. The bees and other pollinating insects will be happy!

– have a go at the blindfold rope challenge among the trees!
